        • Montenegrin Network "Climate Response"

The network Climate Response was launched by the Montenegro Red Cross, as a part of the IPA project „South East Europe Forum on Climate Change Adaptation”. Members of the network comprise different NGOs from the environmental, democracy development and health sector, companies, as well as universities.

The main purpose of the “Climate Response” network is to raise awareness about climate change and its consequences, in particular within the general public and decision-makers. It also promotes and fosters the adoption of highest standards in the field of climate protection and adaptation in order to minimise the impacts of climate change on the most venerable groups in Montenegro.

Main tasks of the network are:

          • Evidence-based needs of vulnerable groups in the area of climate change adaptation will be communicated to decision-makers
          • Raising awareness for climate change and its consequences, both within the general public and decision-makers
          • Information exchange on climate change adaptation among network members
          • Coordination and cooperation of CSOs with relevant national institutions working in climate change adaptation
          • Regular monitoring and dissemination of information on climate change adaptation from different levels

On the occasion of a workshop on national and regional climate change adaptation, which took place in Podgorica, from 1 - 2 June 2011, the Memorandum of Understanding towards the establishment of the “Climate Response” network was signed.
