          EU Acquis Training in Podgorica

           

          The EU Acquis Communautaire and Climate Change Training was held in Podgorica from 13 to 14 October 2011. The purpose of the Training was to introduce EU acquis communautaire, relevant to Climate Change, to the members of Climate Response network (MedCEM, OZON, University of Donja Gorica, University of Mediteran, Winsol co, Electric enterprise of Montenegro, Agency for Local Democracy, Green home, Juventas, CAZAS) and relevant stakeholders (Institute for Public Health, Hydro-meteorological Institute, Agency for Environmental Protection, UNDP, EUD). The training was opened by Secretary General of Montenegro Red Cross,MsJelena Dubak and facilitated by Mr Klaus Radunsky from Austrian Federal Environment Agency. Participants were informed about the legal framework of Climate Change in the EU, best practices from leading European countries (UK, Finland, Germany and Austria), and the comparative analysis of Montenegro Initial National Communication on Climate Change to the UNFCCC and EU corresponding documents. The representative of the EU Delegation in Podgorica presented the findings from the latest EU report on the progress regarding Montenegro and climate change. On the second day of the training, network members identified priorities following the information received on EU acquis communautaire: water, energy, agriculture and forestry, land use and transport, health and disaster risk reduction.
